Graphics Tablets
I’m often questioned what I use to make digital art. This video answers that question, and also gives recommendations of what you might want to look for if you want one too. I currently use a Graphire 4 graphics tablet made by Wacom that has a 4″x5″ drawing surface. Since those are getting harder to find though, you may be better off looking for a small (4″x6″ drawing surface) Bamboo or Bamboo Fun model, which are both made by Wacom. These tend to sell for 0 CAN/US or less, and if you look around, you can regularly find one selling for around . They’re VERY handy to draw with on the computer, and for that matter, are a nice change sometimes from using a mouse. Take a look at some of the other videos around YouTube, and you’ll find people doing live demonstrations of how thee things work. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments, and I’ll do my best to answer them.
From www.officeoftomorrow.org In addition to our project “Shared Design Space” a mouse emulator for Microsoft Windows® was implemented. This emulator allows users to work with any Windows application using an Anoto® pen on our large-screen tabletop setup. We also made a tangible toolbar for the use with Adobe Photoshop CS2®. By simply triggering keyboard shortcuts when tapping on the menu’s icons, the users can switch between different tools in Photoshop. This novel interface allows users to make hand-drawn paper toolbars for any application which uses keyboard shortcuts within a few minutes. The disposable interface can easily be made for each single task and safes screen estate when hiding the virtual toolbars. See also: mi-lab.org

@TwilightBullet87 Ya, I got a trust graphics tablet today.
So you’re basically getting a hudnred-dollar mini-screen for your computer.
Wouldn’t it be the same quality if you used a mouse or laptop-touchpad?
So you really need to draw when using a tablet?
the accutext (TM) makes it possible to use these devices simple!!
I don’t have enough money to buy a excellent tablet
and i cant buy online, so i cant buy the bamboo ;-;
Im gonna buy a cheap ass tablet that i found……… it sux, but i have to contend with it T^T
Excellent intro.
this guy sounds a bit like the guy from friends
HOLY SHIT THIS THING IS PRICEY FOR THE TABLET AND PEN. this thing is cool but why so expensive its just like buying a piece of paper and a pen but to draw it digital
lol, the bamboos are in lidle for €30 haha,
when i used it on photoshop the rubber doesn’t work
how much are these things cost? and can you buy it at walmart or bestbuy cuz i dont feel like ordering online
@kussummak Pen only means you can’t touch it with your fingers. Thus the different names of the tablets, “Wacom Bamboo Pen,” and “Wacom Bamboo touch.”
my father is mean he doesnt trust online shopping when he did it before >:(
does anyone know anything about Medion Graphics Tablet MD85637?
buy a wacom intuos 4 L like me
Im about to buy a tablet. Wat do u reckon of Genius G-Pen 560 Graphics Tablet 31100026100??? Please respond soon before i make my descision.
“Pen Only” means “no mouse” you idiot! Not “no software”
LOL ther’s a whitte bamboo & it’s called bamboo fun -___-
bamboo is expensive but cintiq & intuos is more expensive x__X
have u heard of the UC-Logic PF1209-PRO i dont know whether to get this or the wacom bamboo…features wise the UC-logic comes close to the intuos, but price wise its equal to the bamboo…i dont know about the quality of the product though…which do you reckon would be a better buy?
there are white bamboo tablets
Bah! Bamboo expensive?! I got a 21* Cintiq, THAT’S expensive.
Bamboo is too expensive, the media slim tablet 2 14000 is very excellent and is cheaper than bamboo
The white bamboo is a fake, there is just the one color, black. Someone just modified that particular picture.
I got a trust tablet too. Im also better at drawing on paper. Its just gotta get used to it.
While I’ve never used that particular brand at all, I’d say that yeah, it may just be a matter of getting used to using the thing — I’d say that a week or two of using it will typically get most people used to a tablet. (which is pretty much the same amount of time it takes people to learn how to use a mouse for the first time)
nice, you are the perfect example of digital art.
i feel like cast shadows where i could see none of my drawing would be too much a nuisance for this device to be practical. I’d rather wait until Cintiq screens were cheap enough to make that Wacom would make one that huge.
Plus, digital projections severely cripple the image by darkening it and desaturating it.
Lol the guy looks like Obama. Haha sweet tablet though! thumbs up
id punch a kitten in the face for one of those
can i have it
its cool but i can imagine this to slow down work.
This is a SUPERB example of a digitizing tablet in use!
Many thanks for sharing this.

Freakin’ Unbelievable!!!!
The world’s first touch screen coffee table.
that shit is so fucking cool, that’s an simple 10,000$
WOW! well how you said I can only dreaming of owning one now! just awesome!
try ebay, Nisis Easypen sell some excellent tablets, that come with word note capability and hand writing recognition
zanderinwind23
Well, I’m not interested in anything for graphic purposes…but I want to take notes (personally and at University) digitally WITHOUT typing which is very restrictive for math work.
Can anyone recommend something for this around $50? The only real qualities I need is that:
-the input area is at least 3×4
-It can identify what I write to about 1 millimeter^2 precision
I know bamboo and waco offer ones for 50-100, but really I’m a cheap bastard.
